Man Arrested For Acid Attack In South Delhi

A 19 year old girl, today has been attacked with acid, by a man in South Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area.

The victim is admitted to the Delhi’s AIIMS trauma center.

DCP (South-East), Romil Baaniya, said she has suffered severe burn injuries and is expected to survive.

The acid was diluted, and the incident took place outside the residence of the survivor’s home, according to the reports.

The Confession:

The police received a complaint in this regard at 10:25 am. The assailant, Ravi Kumar, 22, went to the Sangam Vihar police station and confessed to his crime.

The accused, was said to be in a relationship with the woman for some time, suspected that she was going to get married to someone else. He had recently begun to suspect that she was cheating on him.

Ravi, carried a bottle of diluted acid and threw it on the victim, at around 10:15am.

The Supreme Court had earlier banned the sale of acid over the counter, because of the increasing acid attacks in the country.

The apex court had also ordered a compensation of Rs 3 lakhs to be given by the state governments, to each acid attack victim.
