Will Sasikala Natarajan Take Over as Tamil Nadu CM?

The AIADMK has announced a party meeting and all its legislators were asked to reach the party office in Chennai on Sunday. No specific agenda has been announced. However, some speculations are there that General Secretary Sasikala Natarajan will replace Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.

Ms Natarajan was not an elected member of the assembly. She took charge as party chief after the death of Ms Jayalalithaa, who had held both posts.

Top leaders of the party demanded that 61-year-old Ms Natarajan should take over as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

Previously there was speculation that Ms Natarajan would take become the chief minister by January end, but it was postponed because of the massive protests in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu last month over the removal of the ban on Jallikattu.

After Jayalalithaa's death last year, O Panneerselvam, 65 took over as the Chief Minister.
