Election Commission announces Assembly polls for Five States

The Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the Assembly elections for five states today which will be held this year. Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Goa are among the five states in which the elections will take place. The ruling BJP is taking elections after the big announcement of demonetization. Here are some of the highlights:

- The donations have been reduced to Rs 2000. The decision on the representation of some of the political parties will be take soon.

- Asking votes by the name of religion is a corrupt practice announced Election Commission.

- The decision on Samajwadi party’s symbol will be taken soon by EC.

- UP elections will be held in seven phases on February 11th, 15th, 19th, 23rd, 27th, March 4th and 8th.

- Manipur elections will be held in two phases on March 4th and 8th.

- Uttarakhand polls will be held on February 15th.

- Punjab will take it on February 4th.

- Goa will go for elections on February 4th.

- The counting of all the states will be held on March 11th.

- Over 16 crore voters will cast their votes in all the five states.
