KCR Seeks Vision document from Roads and Buildings Officials

The roads condition in Hyderabad has worsened after the heavy rainfall causing floods which took place last month. People are facing a lot of problem as on every stretch there is a pothole. In this regard, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao spoke to the officials of Roads and Buildings.

He directed them to take up a comprehensive study on various aspects of roads in the State. This will include national and state highways. He also asked them to prepare a Vision document.

The CM also expressed his anguish at the number of deaths caused by the road accidents on a regular basis. In this regard, the CM held review meetings at his camp office in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Mr. Rao asked the officials to study the condition of the roads. He asked them to prepare a proper program which will be required to improve the road network. KCR asked them to identify roads which have to be built through Central schemes and list measures to lay roads that can withstand adverse climate conditions.

Mr. Rao also suggested roads should be relayed in a straight line correcting the steep turns, to avoid accidents. Bypass roads should be built so that the national and State highways steer clear of towns and large villages.

Mr. Rao also asked officials for proposals on road under-bridges, road over-bridges, culverts, causeways and underpasses to be built on highways, and their phase-wise construction incorporated in the vision document.

He said, "special attention should be paid to areas where roads are more prone to damage from rains and water logging."

Mr.Rao asked the officials to study the modern technology and methods adopted by European countries and the USA towards this direction. Immediately all works of Regional Ring Road outside the Outer Ring Road should be started, for a length of 330 kilometers. He also asked them to prepare an action plan for completion of works within two years.

Observing that the Detailed Project Reports are time-consuming, KCR asked officials to divide the work into packages. Deputy Chief Minister Mohd. Mahmood Ali, Ministers Tummala Nageshwara Rao, and Ch.Laxma Reddy, besides officials from the department also participated in the meeting.
