Swathi's Murder Case: Ramkumar's Lawyer Accuses TN Police

The lone accused in the sensational murder of Chennai Techie Swathi , P. Ramkumar committed suicide on Sunday evening at the Puzhal prison where he was being lodged since July this year.

Ramkumar killed himself by biting a live wire in Puzhal jail. Father of P. Ramkumar refused to believe that his son committed suicide.

“My son did not end his life. Police killed him. It is a cold-blooded murder.” This was the first reaction of Paramasivam.

“I don’t believe that my son committed suicide. We have been maintaining that my son was being framed in the case. And this has been proven once again today since police did not want the truth to come out,” Mr. Paramasivam alleged at his Meenatchipuram village near here.

He also claimed that they got a phone call from Puzhal prison authorities at around 4.30 pm on Sunday informing that Ramkumar was not well and is being shifted to a hospital. “However, within an hour we got to know from the media that my son was no more. He had no reason to commit suicide. It is the police, who made my son an accused in the case, he alleged.

Mr. Paramasivam, who had earlier alleged that his son was being targeted became he was a Dalit, said he can't believe that his son was no more since he met him just 10 days ago.

“Only the police are responsible for my son’s death. I have several doubts about the theory being propagated by the police. I want a proper inquiry into the alleged suicide of my son,” he further alleged.

Some villagers also came out in support of Ramkumar and alleged that it was not a suicide but murder. “How can he come into contact with a live wire? Why was it hanging and where was it hanging in the prison?” the villagers asked.

Refusing to believe that Ramkumar, committed suicide, lawyer S.P. Ramaraj on Sunday alleged that his client's death was a “planned murder” and that the Tamil Nadu Police are trying to push the truth under the carpet.

“This was a planned murder. Ramkumar had no intention of committing suicide. He was never involved in the murder. From day one, we have been maintaining that he was being framed in the case,” Mr. Ramaraj told Deccan Chronicle on Sunday evening.

Ramkumar hacked 24-year-old S Swathi, an Infosys Employee on July 24 this year when she was waiting for the train at Nungambakkam station.
