108 Ambulance Refuse to take Injured Students to Hospital

After series of incidents in Odisha, where in a man was forced to carry his wife dead body for 10 km after there was no ambulance to take his wife to hospital. In second incident a father was forced to carry his daughter’ dead body after ambulance asked them to get down mid way, another shocking incident happened in Hyderabad.

The 108 ambulance service refused to take two girl students of and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) in Hyderabad to hospital on Tuesday.

The two girls, Ann Alex and Akshi Singh, hailing from Kerala and Maharashtra were returning to the university after having dinner when their vehicle skidded and they were injured. A traffic police team nearby helped them and called for 108 ambulance. B. Ajeesh, a common friend from the university, was informed by the students about the accident and he had reached the spot by then.

Ajeesh said, “We three got into the ambulance. But after the cops left the ambulance stopped. The paramedic did some first aid procedure on the wounds of the two girls. After that he said there was no need for going to the hospital and told us to get out of the ambulance. We requested him to take us to hospital as Ann, who was on the pillion, had hit her head on the road and was dizzy. Akshi feared that she had suffered a fracture in the leg. Moreover, she had small pieces of glass lodged in her face as had spectacles had shattered. However, the ambulance in-charge said that we are fine and forced us to get out. He asked us take an autorickshaw and go to hospital. When we asked him if he could at least drop us till the university he said no. When I took a photo of the ambulance number plate he declared that we can do whatever we want.”

When contacted, a 108 emergency service official said, “The paramedic cannot force anyone to get out of the ambulance. If the students file a complaint we will take action.”
