Bihar Man Falls in Pulp Making Machine, Dies

In a tragic incident a migrant worker from Bihar was crushed to death in Tamil Nadu.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Vicky Kumar. He accidentally fell in a pulp making machine at a paper mill near Bhavani Sagar in the district.

One of his colleagues told police that “he fell into the conveyor belt leading to the pulp making machine and was crushed to death on Tuesday. The machine was stopped immediately when the victim's co-worker, also from Bihar, raised an alarm. However, he was crushed totally.”

Police said “Kumar's body was identified from the pieces of the T-Shirt he was wearing, Though the management of the paper mill said Vicky Kumar was aged 21, other workers said he was 19.The private paper mill employed more than 25 persons from Bihar besides others.”

“We are unable to confirm the age since the boy has no relatives here and the co-workers were from different parts of Bihar who had become familiar with one another only at the work spot,” said Ravi, Inspector of Bhavani Sagar Police Station.

Barring a small bone and a few pieces of the T-shirt that he wore, his entire body had turned into pulp. The management of the industrial unit is stated to have furnished the victim's age as 21 to the police.

A case has been registered. The Department of Industrial Safety and Health could not immediately determine the victim's age.

Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health Manoharan said necessary action will be taken based on an investigation on Wednesday to determine let-up in safety procedure.
