Air India Drops Flight Ticket for Last- Minute Bookings

Air India has come up with a new scheme to attract more number of flyers. It has decided to drop last minute ticket fares. The Flight ticket price would be same as that of the 2-tier AC of Rajdhani trains.

The drop in fares is made only on four key routes--Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Chennai, Delhi-Kolkata and Delhi-Bengaluru. Passengers who book their flight tickets four hours before the departure will avail this discount.

Air India Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani said, “the move is aimed at providing relief to the passengers from last minute sky-rocketing fares and also to fill the vacant seats.”

The Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani AC II-Tier ticket costs Rs 2,870, while Delhi-Chennai ticket cost Rs 3,905. The fare of second AC for Delhi-Kolkata is Rs 2,890 and for Delhi-Bengaluru Rajdhani the ticket costs Rs 4,095.

Mr Lohani said, “Air India has an average load factor of 74 per cent across its domestic network while the seat occupancy on these trunk routes stands at around 80 percent.”

"Our objective is to fill these remaining seats as well. This can be achieved with such affordable fares. In addition, this would also help us increase our passengers' revenue," Lohani added.

The Air India 'Super Saver' scheme started on June 26 and will end on September 30. All the passengers who booked their 1st AC tickets in Rajdhani Express but have the wait-listed ticket could book Air India flight ticket four hours before its departure to avail the discount.
