Curfew in Srinagar, Amarnath Yatra Suspended

Srinagar city has been shut down due to curfew. Huge tension prevail several parts of south Kashmir after 22-year-old Burhan Muzaffar Wani was killed by security forces on Friday. Wani is commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen terror group.

According to the sources, overnight clashes took place between protesters and security forces. Several police officials and an Army jawan was attacked in Kupwara.

All Mobile and internet services have been blocked. Piligrims travelling to Amarnath have been stopped in Jammu as the Yatra has been suspended temporarily. All the board exams have been postponed.

Train services from Baramulla to Banihal town have been suspended. The Srinagar -Jammu National Highway has also been closed. Several separatist leaders including Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, have called for a valley-wide shutdown today to protest against Wani's killing. Both of the leaders have been put on house arrest.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik was also arrested after said that he would lead a protest march. Wani's body was handed over to his family in Tral.
