6 Year Old Hit by School Van inside School Premises

In a tragic incident, a six-year-old boy died on spot when his school van hit him inside school premises in Jeedimetla.

According to the police, Jashwanth Reddy, a UKG student was walking inside Vignan Sudha Talent School when he was hit by van.

On Friday around 8.30 am, Jashwanth’s father Mr Ramreddy, an employee of Aurobindo Pharma, dropped him at the school gate. Driver of school van (AP 28TA 3437) entered the campus. He did not notice the kid due to which this mishap took place.

Jeedimetla inspector A. Chandrashekar said “Driver Srisailam did not notice the child walking and the front left part of the van hit him, causing a severe head injury. The school staff rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.”

Police said that there was an ayah in the van at the time of the accident but she too did not notice the child. Parents of the kid blame the school for negligence.

Ramreddy said “If they were careful about the movement of the school van inside the campus, my son would have been alive.”

He is native of Ongole in Andhra Pradesh. His family is living in Hyderabad for the past eight years.

Driver Srisailam, who has been working with the school for more than three years has a valid heavy vehicle driver’s licence and the van also has a fitness certificate and all relevant documents.

Education department officials started an inquiry into the incident. An official said “we are probing whether it was negligence on part of the school management.” An accidental death case was registered against the driver.
