App failed, software engineer committed suicide

A 33-year-old software engineer committed suicide, after knowing that a social networking app developed by him was not working.

Lucky Gupta Agarwal lives in Swarna Plaza Apartment in DK Road, Ameerpet, Hyderabad. Yesterday, his father noticed his son’s death, after he felt suspicious that Lucky did not wake up at his usual time.

"As Lucky did not respond to repeated knocking, the family members forcibly opened the bedroom door and found him lying dead wearing a nose mask connected to a nitrogen gas cylinder," SR Nagar inspector Md Waheeduddin said.

Around 3 pm, the family members informed the police, who later found a suicide note in the bedroom.

Speaking about the note, the inspector said, “Lucky wrote in the suicide note that he was lucky to die in a painless way. He also wrote that he adopted the suicide method of using nitrogen as it was the easiest and painless way.”

Police then seized the 3 feet nitrogen cylinder with a pipe connected to the fake mask.

Family members said that, Lucky was in deep depression since the past 3 months, as the app he developed did not take off.

“Lucky used to tell his family members that the app developed by him would become more popular than WhatsApp. But it did not happen and he went into depression,” SR Nagar SI Ajay Kumar said.

Few days before the suicide, lucky found out the ways to commit suicide, without pain and he has even done online research on the same.

Police said, Lucky was unmarried and is survived by his parents and a brother, who is in the USA. His body was shifted for postmortem and a case of suspicious death was registered under section 174 of CrPC.
