Make in India: Stars escape fire accident

Last night, a massive fire engulfed the stage at Make in India’ event, held at Girgaum Chowpatty seafront, Mumbai, where several political and film biggies have attended.

Speaking on the issue, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that, the fire broke out at 8.22 pm and fortunately “no casualties reported, no one is injured.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had inaugurated the event yesterday, spoke to Mr Fadnavis about the fire incident.

“PM @narendramodi has spoken to Maharashtra CM @Dev_Fadnavis over the fire incident in Mumbai,” his office tweeted.

Several biggies like Mr Fadnavis, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, who were part of the event, were evacuated to safer areas. Especially, Amithab Bachchan left the place, just before few minutes, the fire started.

With no option left, Make in India event was called off.

CM Fadnavis, who personally monitored the evacuation operation from the venue, said that, the disaster management put in place, ensured the safe passage of the people attending the fete.

14 fire engines and 10 water tankers supported to put the blaze under control in a short time, while the thousands of people were being evacuated on the other side.

The fire broke out one hour after the entertainment segment had begun. However, the officials were unable to find out the exact causes for it, but Maharashtra state, BJP spokesman, Atul Shah said the fire apparently broke out from beneath the stage.
