Amaravati: Why circular is issued, when donations are voluntary?

After Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu has issued a circular that, everyone must contribute Rs.10 for Amaravati construction, the decision has received a huge criticism from the public.

After laying the foundation stone, in a ceremony, conducted a few months ago, Naidu said that he would begin the construction works of Amaravati. For collecting the funds for the same, he approached the public, in several ways. Now, he again came forward with a unique approach, which is collecting Rs. 10 from everyone.

After receiving a huge criticism from all the sections of the public, Naidu tried to defend himself, saying that, students and teachers will not be forced or in that sense, none would be forced to give donations and thus tried to convince the public, saying that, these are voluntary contributions and are a part of “My brick, My Amaravati and My Capital” campaign.

Naidu opined that, contributing to Amaravati, will generate a feeling of owning their capital city and that is the reason of why the students are voluntarily coming forward.

But when Naidu was asked that, why the circular was issued to all the schools, to donate Rs. 10, when the donations are voluntary, AP CM did not have a proper answer.

Cornering Naidu at that point, Mangalagiri MLA and senior YSRCP leader, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy filed a petition in the High Court against ChandrababuNaidu, for allegedly, forcing the public, to donate money for the construction of the capital city.

The incidents like these, that too just before, GHMC elections, is expected to show a huge influence on the part of AP government. It should be seen, how Naidu overcomes these and moves forward.
