Uber cabbies damage office, complained by 3rd party

A Person, who is not related to Uber, lodged a complaint against Uber cabbies, for damaging Uber office in Bangalore.

On October 20th, Uber was in the news, after its cabbies, allegedly destroyed the office at around 1.30 pm, throwing the stones at it and also bet the security guards, for not paying the promised incentives.

Responding to a complaint, the South East division police had swiftly arrested four of the main accused, namely Bheema Shankar, Manjunath, Kiran, and Bharath. The four claimed that their talks with the Uber management failed and so had to destroy the office, with no choice left.

But the thing is, Uber company management itself is staying away from lodging the complaint, for the fear of losing the goodwill.

But the twist in the story comes, after Vijay Arun Kumar, a liquor supplier to Rock View Bar and restaurant, opposite the Uber office in Somasunderapalya, HSR Layout.

Kumar said that, though he repeatedly called  the management on phone, none received it and so he was asked to lodge the complaint against the miscreants.

Speaking about the issue, Kumar said, “It all occurred around mid-morning. I was asleep when suddenly, the sounds of shouts and shattering glass woke me. I saw a large number of drivers outside the building. I was called in by the police a while later and I told them what I saw. I was then requested to file a complaint, but I'm worried if I will come to any harm from this. Why couldn't Uber file the complaint themselves?”

Meanwhile, south west deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Rohini Katoch Sepat had confirmed the incident and said that, the complaint was received from someone else in the building.

Speaking about it, DCP said, “We have done our duty and arrested the main accused involved in the incident. Despite repeated calls to Uber, they did not turn up to file a complaint, and a third-party filed one instead. This is a labour issue that became a law-and-order issue when the drivers took the law into their hands and damaged the building. The complainant need not worry about any harm coming to him as we are assuring him of full protection,”

However, as of now, nothing is heard from Uber management.
