Underworld don Chhota Rajan was brought to Delhi early this morning from Indonesia by a joint team headed by CBI officials.

Chotta Rajan, whose original name is Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje, has been on the most-wanted list for more than two decades, due to over 75 crimes he committed, ranging from murder, extortion to smuggling and drug trafficking.  

Indonesian officials have caught Chotta Rajan, in Bali, Indonesia, a few days back, upon the tip of Australian authorities in Canberra and the notice from Interpol. The Indonesian officials have conducted the investigations on his crime history.

Upon their information about Rajan, the Indian officials submitted the reports of his crime history, to the Indonesian officials.

On the other side, Rajan says that, he himself was surrendered to the officials but not by any other. According to an Indonesian Interpol official, Rajan was handed over to seven CBI officers yesterday evening and was flown to India on a special aircraft.  

Meanwhile, Maharashtra government made an announcement of handing over all the cases related to Rajan, to the CBI, as it felt that, the agency had expertise in handling such cases.

Rajan has reportedly said to Indian officials that he is not willing to go to Mumbai, as he had the threats from underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.  

Currently, six cases are registered against Rajan and he would be in the custody of Delhi Police in a Special Cell, till the CBI formalities to take over the Maharashtra cases are completed.

Today, the Delhi police is likely hand over their cases registered against Rajan and his men to CBI, which will be the probing agency for cases registered against him, and produced before a magistrate.

Upon Rajan’s arrest, the CBI headquarter has been turned into a fortress with a four-layer security, which comprising of NSG and special cell commandos, along with the paramilitary.
