Training and jobs to prisoners in Telangana

While the world is falling back of the percentages, ranks, toppers and all and offering them jobs, the Telangana government comes forward with an innovative proposal, which is to train the prisoners in the jail and offer them jobs.

Regarding the new proposal, the Telangana prisons department is launching the campus placements and also offering skill training for the prisoners, with the intention of reducing the crime rate and making the prisoners go on a different route, so that it would benefit their family and also the society.

Speaking about this, DIG Narasimha said that, the department collected the data, which dealt with education and other background details of the prisoners and thus offering the job placements.” He further invited other big companies to come forward to offer jobs for the prisoners.

Jobs to prisoners: New block for prisoners in jails

For effective implementation of the proposal, the department is going to add new blocks for the prisoners (One at Chanchalguda and another one at Cherlapalli in Hyderabad). These new blocks will launch on 23rd of this month.

The new block has four barracks in which one is Swastik barrack for terrorists, another for detainees, one for the VIP criminals and the other one for the hardcore criminals.

The terrorist barracks has the security at three levels, in which around 40 people can be housed at any given time. Even the hardcore criminals barrack also has the same level of security.

Coming to the VIP barrack, obviously this one would be the most spacious one with the prisons spread across the two-floors. The maximum capacity of these prisons would be 20 and there would even be a shuttle court. These prisons have a high quality of equipment with shelves and also washroom with shower.

“Meanwhile a few of the creative prisoners are showing interest in running a spa and nature cure centre and accordingly, those would be launched in the prisons to serve the prisoners,” a few of the officials said.

History only showed the prisoners being suffered in the jails and are offered that jobs, with no relation with the skills. But Telangana government initiating this type of proposal will awaken the skills in the prisoners and encourage them to strive towards their passion and get employed in the work they prefer to do, which therefore results in reduction of the crime rate. For this, Telangana government surely needs a loud applause.
