Land acquisition act: Pawan or Naidu, tomorrow decides

The time allotted for land pooling in Andhra Pradesh will be completed today. A notification on land acquisition can be expected tomorrow, say CRDA officials.

Land acquisition, which has turned a big issue in the recent times is turning more viral day by day, as a few of the farmers are not willing to surrender their lands for the AP government.

On the other hand, Pawan’s tweets on land acquisition are also making the TDP officials not to act strict on the land acquisition act. But a few of the government officials opine that, without land pooling, AP capital construction cannot be completed.

So, those particular officials took the issue to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the latter is not able to take a proper decision. However, today is the last day for the farmers to surrender their lands.

From tomorrow, government has to respond on the land acquisition and according to that, the CRDA officials carry on their duties on implementing the act.

“There is still 3852 acres of land left to be pooled from the people. As per the government response, we would act on the issue says,” CRDA officials.

Farmers’ demands first, land acquisition act

On the other hand, on Wednesday, the farmers and farmers’ leaders, met at a roundtable organised by AP Rythu Sangham and AP Vyavasaya Karmika Sangh, demanded scrapping of GO No. 166 issued on May 14, which exempted the capital city development project from Chapter II and Chapter III of the Act (exemption from social impact assessment and consent of affected families).

If ever there is no other option other than land acquisition, then pay lease amount as promised while taking assigned, surplus, banjar and ‘lanka’ lands, on before hand, said farmer leaders.

Along with this, they also demanded a pension hike of Rs. 9,000 per month from the present Rs. 2,500 to the landless poor.
However, the final decision or reponse of the government on the farmers demands is yet to be heard.
