Due to the stampede occurred in Baidyanath temple in Devgarh, Jharkhand, 11 people lost their lives and 50 were severely injured.

Baidyanath temple is a famous sacred place in Devgarh. Devotees in large number come to offer their prayers everyday to the temple. In the same way, on Monday too, the devotees overheard that, the temple doors will be opened at 4am in the morning. Due to this, the devotees rushed to the temple in large number in that morning.

There are no proper security measures and no barrycades too and this lead to the stampede. The incident happened in Durgabhari area, which is 4 km away from the Baidyanath temple.

Jharkhand Baidyanath temple stampede: Rs.2 lakhs compensation to the dead victims families

Jharkhand Chief Minisiter Raghubir Das expressed his condolences to the dead victims families and Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs.2 lakhs for the dead victims families and Rs. 50000 for the injured people.

Along with these, the government gave special helpline numbers 06432232299, 240577, 232295, 291274 for the emergency services. Along with the government, the Baba committee administration board announced Rs. 1 lakh for dead victims families and Rs. 25000 for the injured people.

Special force for the Jharkhand Baidyanath temple - Rajnath Singh

Reacting on the issue, central home minister Rajnath Singh said that, he is going to send 2 RAF (Rapid Action Force) groups in which 200 people act in it and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) groups are already at the centre.  Regarding this, he already made a statement in Loksabha.

Similar incident in the past at Jharkhand Baidyanath temple

This kind of stampede is not new at this place. A similar incident already took place in the past at the temple, where 9 people lost their lives in the stampede. Even then, the government or the temple authories failed to take proper secirity measures at the temple premises.
