The central government has denied the special status to Andhra Pradesh state, after several discussions from the various state officials.

Indrajit Singh Rao, the Union Minister of Planning and Defense, has stated in the Lok Sabha that, according to the directives of the planning commission, the center is unable to declare the special status to any Indian state, including Andhra Pradesh.

Indrajit Singh further said that, if needed, the centre will allot special packages to the states, but not the special status. After back to back questions by the MPs of Bihar, Rajasthan and Odisha in the question hour, the minister made the above statement.

After the statement, the other state MPs are observed protesting against it, but to the shock, all the AP MPs reportedly maintained utter silence on the issue.

Then what about BJP’s promise to provide special status to AP? 

While passing the Telangana bill in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha an year back, many BJP senior leaders including Venkaiah Naidu and Haribabu, had promised to provide special status to AP.  
 
But it is already more than an year, but till date, there is not even a single positive move from the central government regarding AP special status issue. In fact, as Pawan Kalyan said, it might even be because of the AP MPs silence on special status issue, that made NDA government put the issue aside.

Why the leaders are silent on AP Special status issue?

There is no such logic behind the silence of the AP MPs on the special status issue. This is making the common people, more worried. Parties like YSRCP, Congress had announced protests in the past, but the reasons are not known for their stoppage of protests. As of now, YSRCP party chief Jagan had again announced a strike in New Delhi on August 10th. The reason behind this strike is, to question the Central government and also the AP state government, for its failure regarding the special status issue.
