Another unsual death in Vyapam

The ongoing spate of unusual deaths in Vyapam case seems to be unstoppable as one more death registered on Monday related to the scam.

The 40-year-old constable Ramakant Panda was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence in Orchha, said the police. There are unconfirmed reports that the constable had been questioned by a Special Task Force in the Vyapam Scam, but the local police have denied this.

Even the Madhya Pradesh police also have so far denied that the death of a police constable in the state yesterday is linked to the Vyapam recruitment scam that has rocked the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in the state after many people have died mysteriously.

They said Mr Panda was under the influence of alcohol and is suspected to have committed suicide.

"All deaths should not be linked to Vyapam," said Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who has expressed inability to meet the opposition's demand to recommend a CBI inquiry in the case, pleading that the state's High Court is already monitoring the investigation and so is the competent authority to take that decision.

The admissions rocket witnessed three back-to-back deaths since Saturday. Investigative journalist, Akshay Singh died frothing at the mouth on Saturday. Just hours after that, dean of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh- Arun Sharma, found lifeless in suspicious circumstances in Dwarka hotel in Delhi on Sunday morning. Within 24 hours, the body of a trainee sub-inspector, Anamika Sikarwar (25), was found in the lake adjacent to the Police Training Academy in Sagar on Monday morning.

The 25-year-old woman trainee sub-inspector got into the police force through an exam conducted by Vyapam. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide.

As many as 47 people had died in the Vyavasayik Pareeksha Mandal aka Vyapam case from the last three years.
