Complaining food poisoning, around 46 girl students were admitted to the State-run Fever Hospital, Nallakunta.

The students from the Social Welfare Residential School and Junior College, Mahendra Hills, Secunderabad, said that, they had consumed fried rice along with egg curry on Sunday evening and khichdi early morning on Monday

“Among the 46 students, 19 girls were admitted to the hospital by afternoon and another 26 students by evening. One girl student was admitted, immediately after having the food on Sunday night itself,” Fever Hospital officials said.

“The students admitted in the hospital complaining of abdominal pain, diarrhoea and vomiting, which are the typical symptoms of food poisoning,” the doctors clarified.

On the other side, Dr. K. Shankar, Superintendent, Fever Hospital, said that, the doctors who are treating the students said that they have collected the samples and sent them for testing. An observation of two or three days is required

Meanwhile, the district medical and health officials assured that all efforts are being made to stabilise the health of the girls. Teachers of the residential school were also in the hospital to take care of the girls admitted, they added.

Giving the quality food for the money, students are paying is a minimum responsibility of any hostel. Taking a chance on their health is not appreciable.
