‘SHE Teams’ are eyeing on every busy centre in Hyderabad and has already caught red handed, a number of eve-teasers teasing the women across the city.

Upon the several complaints on the eve teasers, the government had finally introduced ‘SHE Teams’ to protect the women. Regarding this, the concerned officials are acting upon the complaints received from the women in the city and catching hold of the eve teasers with the perfect proof.

Few of the cases it dealt with

1. At Koti bus stop: The SHE teams caught a 71-year-old Mohammad Shadiq, a retired employee, who was sitting at the Koti bus stop in the city and desperately trying for the physical contact of the ladies over there. In the beginning, the ladies were frightened by his acts and were shifting to other places, but the irritated ladies have finally consulted the ‘SHE teams’. Upon their call, the concerned officials took a video proof of the person, while harassing the ladies and caught hold of him red handed. The man was later produced before a magistrate and was sentenced to jail for two days.  

2. At Afzalgunz bus stop: A daily labourer, B Ramulu was caught at Afzalgunz bus stop, while he was trying to touch one particular lady since six months. The vexed lady had finally complained to the police. Responding to the issue, SHE Teams caught Ramulu red handed and was awarded with five days of jail.

3. At Mehdipatnam bus stop: Mohammed Mohsin Ahmed, a private employee, was teasing and following a woman at Mehdipatnam bus stop. According to the reports, the man was winking at her, giving wrong gestures. This episode was recorded by the SHE Teams from a distance and arrested Ahmed. Upon producing in the court, he was fined.

In the same bus stop, Mohammad Ishthiyak, a waiter was allegedly found touching the ladies with the shoulders and teasing. The same punishment was awarded to him just like his all other colleagues discussed above.

In last October, the Hyderabad police had set up 'SHE Team' to crack down on eve-teasers and stalkers. A single SHE Team consists of a male or a female sub- inspector, a woman police constable and three police constables who carry hidden cameras for video recording.

Finally the government has to be appreciated for a good initiative, but it is sad to know, the harassments are not getting stopped completely as most of the ladies are not coming forward to complain. So if the ladies come forward, the future is theirs
