AP farmer finds Rs.17 lakh worth diamond

A farmer in Prakasham district, found a diamond in his field upon searching for it.

Being the monsoon season, most of the farmers are busy in preparing their fields. But the case is different with Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district people. They started searching for the diamonds in the fields.  This time, the luck is in favor of Ponnaiah, a resident of Prakasham district.

Speaking to the media, Ponnaiah said, "Me and my brother had been searching for diamond. I have found one. Planned to sell but returning.”

Due to the recent heavy rains in the state, several layers of the earth got washed away. This is making the residents over the place to search for the diamonds. In that sense, it is not only about the local residents, various nearby villagers are trying their luck this time. But everyone might not be guaranteed diamonds as Ponnaiah right?

Goshiama who visits these fields every year went back empty handed once again. "Others have got in my village, I am still searching for diamond," Goshiama said.

For diamond merchants, the hunt for the diamonds have already turned as a lucrative business, who purchase those diamonds found on the earth. However, many said that, most of the stones found are just crystals and only a few chance upon real diamonds.

Noor Mohammad, a diamond dealer, said, "People find diamonds worth Rs 2,000, 3,000 or 10,000 and it can go upto lakhs.

However, a diamond costing upto Rs.17 lakh was found last week, which left everyone in a deep anxiety to search for more costly diamonds.
