Madhapur is a Richest Village in Asia

According to a latest survey, the reports revealed that, Madhapur village near Bhuj in Gujarat, is the Asia's richest village.

Madhapur, the village which has a population of 15000 and the per capita deposit averages Rs. 12 lakh, is identified as the richest village, for possessing Rs. 1,800 crore fixed deposits in the banks.

What are the reasons that made to draw the conclusion?

The reasons behind this are identified in the following manner. The majority of the relations of Madhapur villagers resides in foreign countries in Africa, the US and UK and the Gulf. Almost 65% of the NRIs from the village, mostly Patels, make huge remittances to their families residing in the village and these remittances are deposited in post offices and nationalized banks, with Rs. 900 crore deposits in 10 nationalized banks in the village.

Being most of the NRIs, workers and building contractors living abroad, their regular remittances resulted in Madhapur becoming the Asia's richest village. In fact, it is those workers, who later returned back to Madhapur and became builders, spreading their wealth.

But the appreciable thing is, however rich the workers in Madhapur are, they still lead a simple life. Their sentiment towards in ancestral houses and their life style, proves the statement
