ACB plans to test Naidu’s voice, plans alternative if rejected

The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials are planning to take the voice samples of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and TDP MLA Revanth Reddy to test it with the proofs they possess, relating to the cash for vote scam.

The cash for vote scam involving Revanth Reddy and AP CM is still in search of a judgment. It is known that presently, the video tapes and audio tapes relating to the scam are sent to the forensic lab for the tests. Now the officials are planning to test the voice of Naidu and Revanth Reddy to compare it with the proofs.

The ACB officials are even planning for the alternatives, if the alleged, does not support for the voice test, which would go against them under the Indian Evidence Act. The officials are planning to get the records from the Legislative Assembly or any other public record and compare them with the proofs.

“However, there might not be any guarantee of using the exact words in those meetings and thus might be difficult to compare with the originals,” the forensic experts say.

If they refuse, the burden lies on Revanth Reddy

One of the forensic officials opined that, the collection of sample voice tests shall be done through the court. The accused or suspect has to give consent. If they refuse to give consent, then the burden of proof lies on the accused, i.e. Revanth Reddy.

“The samples would not be strong, if they are collected from any other source, as there would be a possibility of editing,” the intellectuals opined. Will the AP CM and Revanth Reddy agrees for giving the voice samples or not is yet to be known.
