A 27 year old lady teacher at Gachibowli, was deceived by a foreign national through the online chat, where the cost of such deceive is Rs. 18 lakhs.

The lady met a man, who claimed to be a geologist, on an online chat forum. As he raised about the matters relating to her profession, she felt interested and as such, the friendship grew day by day, through the regular chat sessions. After a certain time, the guy, who studied the mind of the woman, expressed his desire to marry her, which was unfortunately accepted by her.  
   
Things started taking diversion after few days of her acceptance. “The man told that, he would send her jewellery and valuable gifts worth several lakhs through the courier in few days and also said that, she would get a call from the customs authorities. As said, she got the call from some person after few days, claiming to be an official from the Customs department in Delhi.

The person said that, a package containing gold, gifts and foreign currency had arrived in the name of her, to clear the package, she would have to pay some money.  
 
With no choice left, the poor lady, deposited the amount in various accounts, towards the customs clearance charges, RBI clearance, different taxes, and even an “anti terrorism fund”. The total amount she paid, has accounted to Rs. 18 Lakh, but no gift was received. Later she came to know that it was a scam and then approached the police.

Not only this, many similar cases are observed in the recent times. Most of the cyber scammers are targeting the unmarried professionals and trapping them through the online chats.

Even though, similar issues are taking place continuously, the women are still being trapped. However convincing the men are, it would be better, if the women be completely away from the online chats with the strangers. That would at least minimize the problem.
