Amaravathi master plan unveiled

The plan for AP capital was prepared with perfect 'Vaasthu' without hurting the traditional sentiments of the state.

It is known that, the Singapore minister Iswaran submitted the master plan regarding the setting up of the capital of AP to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The details of the plan was out into the media.

Master plan in brief:

Firstly, all major highways have been divided into four zones: Expressway, Semi Expressway, Arterial and Semi Arterial.

The capital city will have world-class infrastructure and it will be developed with extensive use of technology to come up on the banks of Krishna River and between the existing cities of Vijayawada and Guntur, AP CM Naidu said.

The master plan will guide the development of Amaravathi till 2050. "The city will be developed not in one, two or five years, but over a few decades," Iswaran said.

By 2035, according to the official estimates, Amaravathi population would be 11 million with 3.31 million jobs and by 2050, it is expected to be 13.5 million with total jobs of 5.6 million.

The region of Amaravathi will be spread over 7,420 square km. Out of which, capital city will span over 217 sq km and the central planning area will cover 854 sq km. 127 km to  semi-expressway and 155 km to arterial roads.

The residents of the capital city will have an extensive network of walkways, cycle tracks and also local waterways. The other features include civic park, waterfront, cricket stadium, golf course, university, canal parks and central park.

There is even a wide scope for golf courses, island resorts, waterfront residential and island  theme park as the capital city is coming up on the banks of the Krishna River.

The religious tourism circuit will cover key religious places, including Buddhist site of Amaravathi.

The interesting thing is, the plan even included the point regarding the returning of lands to the  farmers from whom the land was taken for the construction of the capital. This is in fact a good news for all those farmers who gave the lands and it might also boost the other farmers to give their lands.
