One year of Modi government, reasserted Indian supremacy

The high octane general election of 2014 made BJP to return to the Lok Sabha with 282 members. The BJP-led NDA garnered a commanding 336 MPs in the Lower House. This is the highest number of seats won by any party on its own after the Lok Sabha elections in 1984, where the Congress, led by Rajiv Gandhi, had a landslide victory due to a sympathy wave because of Indira Gandhi’s assassination. Modi's close aide Amit Shah was at the helm of the BJP's poll preparations and his core team toiled day and night for the party's victory. Experienced leaders J.P. Nadda, Om Mathur, Bhupendra Yadav and Dr. Vinay Sahasrabudde chalked out the party's poll strategies, many young faces like Shrikant Sharma and Arvind Gupta managed the media interaction and digital war room at the party headquarters.

BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said, "I am very satisfied and elated that the government under the leadership of PM Modi has laid the foundation of strong India. It has emerged stronger in the last one year. It gives me as well as the party a proud feeling that the country has moved forward under the strong leadership of the PM."

"There have been many unique things that this government has done in the past one year. The idea of financial inclusion has benefited crores of the common people under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana. Moreover, many social security schemes were launched in the last one year. These include the recently launched schemes like PM Suraksha Bima Yojana and PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. Infrastructure development is moving forward at a fast pace across the country. Policy paralysis has been put to an end with the setting up of NITI Aayog. A strong foundation has been laid for a 'Safal Bharat' under the leadership of the PM," Bhupendra Yadav, a member of the core team of Amit Shah said.

BJP national vice president Dr. Vinay Sahasrabudde said, "Past year, the country has seen a government which it can depend on. This is a great achievement." He added that the party and the government are going hand in hand and both have been successful in last one year.

On the occasion of the Modi government's first anniversary, the question in everybody's mind is whether expectations have been met and what would be an acceptable methodology to evaluate the government's first year's performance. In a nutshell we can say that the one year of Modi’s governance is a reassertion of the governance rubric, decisive political leadership, an empowered bureaucracy, the breaking of silos between agencies and government.
