Petrol and diesel prices hiked again

The petrol prices in the country are hiked again by Rs 3.13 a litre and diesel by Rs 2.71. After the latest revision, petrol costs Rs 66.29 a litre in Delhi and diesel Rs 52.28 and these rates are applicable from the midnight of Saturday itself. The officials said that the reason for this hike is, because of the hike of crude oil rates and falling value of the rupee.  

It is known that the petrol prices were hiked on May 1st.  So this is the second time to experience the hike in the same month. Coming to Hyderabad, the petrol prices are hiked by Rs. 3.52 a litre and diesel by Rs. 3.06. After the increased rates, now the total price of petrol is Rs. 74.83 and diesel is Rs. 59.16 

Petrol prices had cumulatively been reduced by Rs 17.11 a litre in 10 reductions between last August and this February. Diesel prices were brought down by Rs 12.96 in six cuts between last October and February.

The prices of the petrol and diesel would be revised on 1st and 16th of every month on the basis of average imported cost and rupee-dollar exchange rate in the previous fortnight.

Regarding this, the oppositions started making their style of opposes on the government saying that it is the gift of Modi government, on the occasion of completing its first anniversary in  country. On the other side, Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) party leader Jaya too said, that the prices should be reduced immediately as it causes a heavy burden to the citizens.
