No bonds, we want it now- RTC employees

Telangana government is in an idea to issue bonds for the salary hike announced instead of paying cash or debiting it to the employees PF accounts.

It is known that from the past few days, the RTC employees had participated in the strike for their salary hike. The dual state governments announced the hike keeping in mind the traveling problems faced by the public. In fact, Telangana government had announced more than the expected hike, that is 44%. All the employees were found happy with his decision, but within few hours all their happiness has been burst, as the government announced that it going to issue the bonds for the announced salary hike.

The officials opined that, due to the hike, an additional burden of Rs. 6,500 to Rs. 6,700 crore would fall on the government but benefits 3 lakh employees and 2.4 lakh pensioners.

Eetela Rajendar proposal in Assembly

On Friday, Telangana Finance Minister Eetala Rajendra said, government employees would get their enhanced salary arrears in the wake of Pay Revision Commission recommendations in the form of bonds, together with interest, over a period of five years. He clarified that the arrears would be paid from June 2 last year till the salary for February that was remitted this month.

Oppositions from RTC employees:

But this proposal was opposed by the PRTU chief and incharge, Peri Venkat Reddy, Sarvottham Reddy and also by the Telangana PRTU chief and incharge, Harshavardhan Reddy and Chennaiah. How can the government change its decision about the salary hike, when it already declared?, It has to deposit the amount in GPF, otherwise the situations are going to turn worse and a fresh strike would take place again, they warned the government.

After this oppositions, the government is rethinking about the process. But if its decision is not positive to them, then it might be for sure that again a fresh strike would take place and that would further cause inconvenience to the normal public. So, keeping this in mind, hope the government takes a wise decision.
