Perform or leave: Infosys founder

Infosys founder and executive chairman N R Naryana Murthy has warned the employees of his software firm. Speaking to investors in a conference organized by Bank of America Merrill Lynch on Wednesday  Murthy said, “the Company is absolutely in no turmoil. Let me assure you that nobody who was adding value to the company had to leave. That's the reality.” Indirectly Murthy asked the non-performers to leave the company.

Narayana Murthy, returned to Infosys last June from retirement, said that employees hired at huge salaries, but not performing, be asked to leave. Murthy promised to the investors that Infosys is taking several initiatives to increase the productivity among employees as the revenue growth rate dropped significantly in the last few years, raising concerns. He added that the main focus is on reducing on-site costs by shifting more work offshore which could ease the revenues. Infosys sales growth fell from 26% in 2010-11 to 5.8% in 2012-13, a 77% drop and since Murthy's return, cost-optimisation efforts margins went up by 1.5%

A new CEO is also expected for the company in the year 2015. Present CEO Shibulal is expected to step down in March 2015 and Murthy indicated to play a crucial role in finalizing the CEO and assured to help the present one while stepping down.
