President's Comments On State Bifurcation

The President Pranab Mukherjee said at Allahabad while attending a function as a Chief Guest assured media persons that every problem has a solution.

For a question of media representatives about the uncertainty prevailing in Andhra Pradesh, the President made the above remarks. He did not show interest in prolonging the topic further.

But he already commented on the bifurcation of the states when he attended a conference held at Delhi by the Intelligence Officials on December 19 that the demands for new states are coming up.  He showed his agreement for the bifurcations and justified the demands for further bifurcations of the States by stating that the increasing population in the country makes it difficult to place everyone at one place.  He also said on the occasion that the people should behave with wisdom in the state bifurcations.

Although the president said it generally, the only burning issue on state bifurcation is of Andhra Pradesh as everyone knows it. The advice to behave with wisdom also indicates the agitations in the Seemandhra protesting the decision of the Government to bifurcate the state.

While not allowing a prolonged discussion at Allahabad on the State bifurcation issue, Pranab Mukherjee responded only by smiling for the question that this time his winter stay at Hyderabad might have attracted many visitors.
