CM Talks to Uttarakhand Counterpart

Worried about the situation turning grave in Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Kiran Kumar Reddy talked to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister and requested him for the rescue operations to be conducted for 1000 pilgrims from AP stranded at various places in Uttarakhand.  The Chief Minister asked his Uttarakhand counterpart Vijay Bahuguna to provide them food and water.

Pilgrims stranded are in two directions.  One, who are in Uttarkasi mountainous terrain and two, the ones who are returning and stationed somewhere near Dehradun.  Stranded pilgrims of Andhra Pradesh are mainly from Nalgonda, East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna Districts.

The non-stop rains and cloud bursts made the rescue operations difficult for last two days.  Those who wanted to approach by road were blocked due to landslides.

The answer from the officials and the teams of rescue operations came that the rescue operations cannot be taken up till the roadways are cleared to bring them back by road and the skies are clear to airlift.
