Married if found 'Valentin-ing'

Caught out with your Valentine on this day, then the couple is sure to attract the wrath of the Hindutva activists, who are planning to get them married. The Bajrang Dal, VHP and other Hindu organizations opposed the Valentine day celebrations in the twin cities since some time. They expressed that it was against our culture and by celebrating we were encouraging alien traditions.

The activists are speculated to go on the rampage today, once again. A lawyer has filed petition against the Hindutva leaders who proclaimed that any unmarried couple found relaxing in parks or solitary places would be married off as couples. The complaint was registered with the Human Rights Commission.

February 14 is celebrated globally as Valentines day in fond memory of St Valentine, who was commemorated on this day. However there are many stories attributed to this. But he is remembered as the  'angel of love'. And on this day romantic partners spend time with their counterparts and shower them with gifts and praises.

Caution is the watchword to the budding romance, for the day. Though the security personnel have taken adequate care in maintaining peace and harmony, it is also our responsibility to avoid hassle for the day. (Wishesh AarKay)
