Chandrababu Naidu has said that Bonalu is a big festival of Telangana region and promised that TDP would declare Bonalu festival as the state festival in case they come to power in 2014. The political observers said that TDP would have not lost its strength in Telangana region has it declared Bonalu as the state festival when it was in power for ten years.

The experts have also opined that people in Telangana region, who are apparently irked over the dual stand of Chandrababu Naidu on statehood issue, will welcome TDP only if Babu makes his stand clear on the issue.
