Kavita on hunger protest for Ambedkar statue, JP supports

The Lok Satta Party chief  Jaya Prakash Narayana has extended his support to Telagana Jagruti president Kavitha who is on a 48 hour hunger strike at Indira Park. She has been demanding the State Government to install the statue of the architect of Indian Constitution Dr. B R Ambedkar on the premises of AP Legislative Assembly.  JP has said that every state should set up his statue on its assembly premises. He has also called upon to take forward the ideologies of Ambedkar.

Almost all backward sections of the state are extending their support to Kavitha. The demand of setting up Ambedkar statue has been there for quite sometime and several news reports stated that the speaker nodded for the same a few months back. It is known that Dr. B R Ambedkar is not just an architect of the Indian Constitution, but a person who changed the fate of India, by overthrowing many social evils such as untouchability and discrimination.

It is a matter of pride that even University of Columbia—where Ambedkar pursued his higher education—installed a statue of Ambedkar on university premises. Unfortunately, people had to demand and resort to hunger protests to see his statue installed on assemble premises. (Phani)
