LR rules out mid term poll to Lok Sabha

Vijayawada Congress MP Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal said today the forthcoming by-elections in 18 assembly constituencies in the state would surely be a referendum on the Congress rule in the state.

Addressing a media conference in Vijayawada, Rajagopal said the Congress party would win majority of the seats in the next round of by polls. “The by-polls just ended were held on the basis of emotions and sentiments,” he said, adding, the results only reflected the Telangana sentiment.

Referring to the call given by the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to his party cadres and leaders to get ready to face the Lok Sabha mid term poll in the next one year, Rajagopal ruled out the mid term poll.

“There is no question of the Lok Sabha going for the midterm polls and no one should entertain such hopes,” said the MP. “There is no threat to the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre.”

It might be recalled that Mulayam called upon his party leaders and workers at a meeting in Lucknow on Friday to get ready to face the mid term polls for Lok Sabha. (J)
