RTC suffers Rs.300 Cr loss

APSRTC MD Mr Prasada Rao disclosed today that the state -owned transport organization suffered a heavy loss of Rs.300 Cr till now in the present financial year.

Addressing the RTC staff at a function held in the RTC Kalabhavan in Hyderabad, he said that 90 per cent of the losses had happened due to the RTC staff strike during the all people’s strike in September and other agitations.

“The losses have increased in this month due to a drastic reduction in the number of RTC commuters because of the unseasonal days,” he said, adding that the organization has been incurring losses at the rate of Rs.1 per km. “We will overcome the problem shortly,” he said.

He also ruled out the payment of salaries for the strike period for which salary advances have been already paid. Prasada rao disclosed that the tenders for the high security number plates’ project have been cancelled on the orders of the Supreme Court and new tenders would be called shortly.

The function was organized under the sponsorship of Ashok Leyland Ltd to present incentives to the staff who achieved highest mileage in running the buses. Prasada Rao gave away incentives for 1028 staff members. (JUBS)
