Hazare has last laugh as Govt bows downMinutes after the congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi discussed the Lok Pal Bill with the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the latter wrote to the anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare today asking him to give up his fast as the government was ready to accept his demands and end the impasse through discussions.

Informing that finance minister Pranab Mukherjee was asked to discuss the issue with him on behalf of Government and take a decision on the introduction of the Jan Lok Pal Bill in Parliament, the Prime Minister also disclosed that he had sought the Speaker’s permission to send the Jan Lok Pal Bill to the parliamentary standing committee for consideration.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Singhwi, chairman of the standing committee, said the committee is ready to accommodate most of the demands of the Gandhian on the Lok Pal Bill.

Sources said that Anna has also favorably responded to the talks and appointed a 3-member committee to participate in the talks on Jan Lok Pal Bill.
