Opinion poll surveys confusing political parties

Opinion poll surveys are like the starters to results of main elections. Many political parties rely on these surveys to know the people's pulse in advance. However with sting operations proving that they are manipulated, surveys have lost their identity but political parties are still hanging to them. In Andhra Pradesh state, political parties are confused on trusting these surveys as extreme results were reported.


TDP-YSR-Congress

In Ntv and Nielsen survey, it was reported that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress would come in power in Seemandhra region. This survey also said, Jagan would get 19 to 21 Lok Sabha seats and about 13-145 Assembly seats. In another survey by CNN - IBN, it was posted that N Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party would win the 2014 elections effortlessly and attains 39 percentage of votes in Seemandhra. This survey reported that TDP would get 13 to 19 Lok Sabha seats where as YSR Congress could close with 9 to 15 seats.

CNN IBN survey also said that if BJP and TDP form alliance, they would form government in both the states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In Seemandhra, TDP would get 39 percentage of votes which is the highest while YSR Congress could get 21 percentage of votes. In Telangana, TDP is poor with attaining only 13 percentage of votes but with an alliance with BJP, the graph can rise opined the survey.

These reports are rubbished by eminent journalist P Sainath and he favored the YSR Congress party. Sainath said with Congress leaders joining TDP, people are fully convinced as these leaders were responsible for bifurcation of the state. So the X factor may go for the YSR Congress in last minute and TDP would remain out of power. But Sainath questioned the leadership and lack of experience of YSR Congress party and said people will vote to the party whom they think can build the capital city better than Hyderabad.


Congress-TRS

 

Coming to these surveys for Telangana region both the reports favored the Telangana Rashtra Samithi [TRS] party however stated that Congress would give tough competition too. CNN - IBN reported that Congress and TRS would bag 4 to 8 seats here while percentage of votes is 35 and 34 respectively.

 

Are people of Seemandhra confused? Well we can say No, but we have to wait till May 16th to get the accurate result of people's choice.
