KCR Still Dodging Merger Issue?

Telangana Rashtra Samiti President K Chandrasekhara Rao is still making the Congress party in the receiving end as far as the merger of his party with Congress is concerned.

KCR met Congress President Sonia Gandhi today but on coming out from the discussions he said the press reporters that he only met her to thank her for giving Telangana but no other political matters were discussed.  But, he said that AICC General Secretary and In charge of political affairs of the State Digvijay Singh will be in touch with him regarding merger.

The congress party on the other hand is showing confidence at least externally that TRS will certainly merge with Congress party.

As KCR has been fighting for Telangana for the last 10 years and as his party TRS is linked strongly with the Telangana movement although the demand for a separate statehood was going on for the last 60 years, his merger is crucial for Congress party to have a control over some seats from AP as it lost some of the state assemblies recently.

As BJP is mustering its success in the country wide campaigning and as survey reports indicate favorable conditions to BJP, the Congress Party is in the process of consolidating its strong holds.  But unfortunately for the congress party, BJP is also claiming its part in the Telangana formation as it is apparent that the Telangana Bill would not have been passed in both the houses of Parliament without BJP’s support.

As such, Congress party is solely dependent on TRS in the coming elections as far as the state of new state of Telangana is concerned as it has undoubtedly lost Seemandhra.
