Libraries are treasure-troves left by our ancestors

Libraries are treasure-troves left by our ancestors. Ruskin compares books to king's treasures in his famous book "Sesame and Lilies". In books are to be found riches beyond the price of golds or rubies because the books are treasured up with the thoughts of great-men and the words of renowned poets.

Now-a-days in all towns and many villages imposing buildings house the collection of books which are the property of the public. Usually there is a large reading room where daily and weekly newspapers can be consulted and copy of every possible magazine is available. These reading rooms are not only places of source of knowledge and interest at the disposal of the public but also provide readers with a quiet comfortable room having an atmosphere conductive to study. Many students whose homes are overcrowded and noisy find a haven of refuge in the public reading room where they can work in peace.

When one considers how greatly the libraries benefit the man in the street giving him the opportunity of becoming acquainted with best and noblest thoughts of the great men of the world, it will be seen that every country should work towards the establishment of such libraries in all its towns and villages. When every citizen possesses and uses such a treasure house of knowledge, the ignorance and superstition of the masses which make the governing of a country very difficult, will disappear for ever.

Read on and on as there is no end to it!
