With late YSR's daughter Sharmila gearing up for mingling with people in the name of padayatra, Sharmila's name is becoming the talk of the town. It is known that TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu is taking out padayatra, which has been receiving good response just like YSR's padayatra. In order to counter Babu and to strengthen the party further, YSR Congress apparently decided to field Sharmila into action.
Although the decision would be made based on the indications of Jaganmohan Reddy, the sources said that Jagan wanted Sharmila to take out padayatra. In the wake of this yatra, whether it would be a hit or flop is a million dollar question. However, if you analyze the by-election result, you can understand how successful was Sharmila in influencing the people and making them vote for YSR Congress party.
The person who undoubtedly played a major role in making YSRC come into limelight was undoubtedly Sharmila. Notably, the response from the public for Sharmila's speeches in the past evoked better response compared to the speeches given by Jaganmohan Reddy and YS Vijayalakshmi. The same was the case when the national media took the bytes of the family members of Jaganmohan Reddy, it was Sharmila's byte, which was appealing.
The political analysts said that Jaganmohan Reddy's speeches were too dramatic and so were his hand waves whereas Vijayalakshmi's speeches too were not powerful. And it was Sharmila, who attracted the people with her powerful speeches, they added.
Now the debate is whether Sharmila would counter Babu's yatra? If yes, then will she able to become the successor of YSR in politics is another question, which has been widely debated among political circles. On the other hand, the sources revealed that YSR like his daughter much compared to his son Jaganmohan Reddy, who was mostly in Bangalore when YSR was the chief minister. Sharmila was often seen beside her father whenever he went to Idupulapaya. Sharmila earlier said that her father was very attached to her and would sit with her for hours together. In fact, there was not even a single moment wherein Sharmila and YSR raised voice against each other.
Also, there's a buzz that YSRC party's duties would be shouldered officially by Sharmila soon since the scope for Jagan coming out of jail were grim since Enforcement Directorate too geared up to grill Jaganmohan Reddy in connection with Vanpic Case. Further, the sources said that YSR Congress leaders wanted Sharmila to take up the responsibility as she can make the decisions on her own unlike Vijayalakshmi, who has to go to Chanchalguda prison every time to take the consent of her son before party makes any decision.
YSRC leaders even reportedly said that earlier Congress party came to power only because of his padayatra and now YSRC would come to power only if Sharmila takes out padayatra. Notably, Sharmila has no special designation in the party. So, the sources said that if at all Sharmila launches padayatra, then she should have some designation since people should believe on whose behalf she would make the promises. Further, there's another argument that in case Sharmila starts her padayatra, then she would become another power, which may lead another group within the party like Mysoora Reddy and Balineni.
In case Sharmila completely takes party into her control, will she become a threat to Jaganmohan Reddy, is the another question, which is apparently engaging the political big wigs. But then some argued that Sharmila would not plunged in to politics based on the earlier statements of the party. Notably, when YS Vijayamma and Sharmila went into public to campaign for by-polls, YSRC reportedly maintained that Sharmila was not interested in politics, but just supported the campaign. She might have no interest, but the political analysts said that she has a clean image and political charm to drive home the ideas. Therefore, compared to Jaganmohan Reddy, Sharmila might be a better choice for our state, said observers. Anyway, one has to keep the fingers crossed to know the latest developments in the state.
