He is known as a ‘Singam’ for Tamil film industry. He is stylish, only Actor who had guts to experiment with the roles that he acted in the films like ‘Ghajini’, ‘Pitamagan’, play a father and a son in ‘Surya S/O Krishnan’, create an empathy on the character of Suri, by playing the same in Ram Gopal Varma’s  ‘Rakta Charitra’, convince the audience by playing a Smuggler in ‘Veedokkade’ and what not.

Surya is one such Actor, who can suddenly transform his entire personality, body language to that of a 15 year old teenager, again appear as a 60 year old Man. Born in Chennai, to Actor Shiva Kumar and Lakshmi, on July 23rd 1975, Suriya, was always wanted to be a Hero. He has made his debut in the film titled, Nerrukku Ner, in the year 1997. Initially, he was like any other Hero, some people even commented on his looks and suggested improvements on his performance. Suriya took every Criticism positively, and constantly started working on transforming his entire self, for each and every film. he has been following the same Mantra, till date.

Married to his long time girl friend, Heroine Jyothika, Suriya is the father of two kids. Even Suriya’s younger brother Karti, has made his debut in K – Town, and following his elder brother’s foot prints. Many State and National Awards, recognition for his performance at Film Fare. Awarded with the title ‘Kalaimaamani’, in the year 2004 from Government of Tamil Nadu, Suriya is still a USP to any film maker.
