Urban Development Secretary Sudhir Krishna has alleged that Finance Minister P Chidambaram has insulted him over his poor language skills at a high level meeting last Thursday and has asked for Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's intervention into the issue. The incident took place at a meeting called to discuss release of additional central assistance for Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and while Sudhir Krishna was speaking, Chidambaram told Sudhir to talk in Hindi as he is unable to understand the bureaucrat's English.

Meanwhile Chidambaram has not commented anything in this issue and said, “I will look after the complaint filed by the concerned person and will respond to it.” Sudhir Krishna hails from Uttar Pradesh and is Karnataka cadre officer.
