Ex Pope quit on the orders of God?

What can be dubbed as a bombshell of a revelation, ex-Pope Benedict XVI claimed that he resigned because his 'Boss' asked him to do so. Stumped? So are we!

As per ex-Pontiff claims, the former Catholic Church supremo apparently had a "mystical experience" where  God asked him to quit.

Talking about his “resignation” for the first time since he stepped down from papacy, the 86-year-old divulged: “God told me to!” Benedict made the startling revelation after he was asked by Zenit, a Catholic news agency on what forced him to retire to a secluded residence in the Vatican gardens.

Benedict said he had undergone a "mystical experience" that galvanized in him an “absolute desire” to step down as pope and dedicate his life to prayer.

Confirming the report, a Vatican source added, "The report seems credible. It accurately explains the spiritual process that brought Benedict to resign."

Benedict claimed that his mystical experience had lasted months, instilling in him a strong desire to build a direct and exclusive relationship with God.

Benedict’s recent revelation, however, stands in strong contrast with the explanation he gave to cardinals when he resigned on 11 February. “My strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry,” he said then.
