UK visas to Indians down by 20%

With the latest rules that were levied on psw visas and other stricter processes being incorporated into the Visa processes, it was statistically revealed that the number of Indians traveling to UK for work or study indeed fell greatly by 20% in the past year. The latest immigration data from the government's office of national statistics showed a great fall in the number of immigrants.

The reports are out only days after Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron's visit to India wooing businessmen and students for opportunities in the UK. There was a fall of 18,365 Indians, compared to the previous year, recorded in 2011-12 indicating a 19% fall. The number includes transit visas and visitor visas too.

Pakistan had just half as many immigrants into UK compared to the past year as their visas suffered 48% damage. India and China formed 15% each of the total immigrants to the UK. Other majorly hit nations were Sri Lanka, by 45% and Bangladesh by 30%. China on the other hand had a surge in the numbers.

The figures clearly indicate that UK has lost its charm in the education sector as students account for a vast majority of the immigrants. In the last decade never had UK recorded such low immigrants who currently stand at 515,000. This brings about a large doubt in the students from the Commonwealth nations whether to choose UK as their destination for education or no. Until UK introduces some sort of incentive like a Post-Study-Work visa, there is a very little chance for the aspirants to dispel their fears and the situation to improve.
