Rape charges against Rahul dismissed, CBI probe on Mulayam

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the petitions against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi alleging of rape and kidnap. Also, the SC directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look into the role of Mulayam Singh Yadav for inciting party worker to file rape charges against Congress MP since the petitioner (former SP MLA) Kishore Samrite said that he filed the case only on the orders of SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. The court ruled out the rape charges since there was no substantial evidence on the same.

The apex court also said that the image of Rahul Gandhi was tarnished due to false petitions. The Supreme Court even fined the petitioners Rs. Five lakh each for filing the misleading petition. It may be noted that Rahul Gandhi earlier told SC that allegations against him were baseless.
