NCP leader Kiran Dagade Patil had invited the Indo-Canadian Porn Star turned actress Sunny Leone, who recently set the screens on fire after her first ever Bollywood movie released, to the Dahi Handi celebrations in Pune.

Her audacious posters in the city and the state were received with acrid criticism but that had not deterred Kiran Patil from inviting her to the celebrations.

The festival is celebrated on a large scale by the Akhil Bavdhan Dahihandi Mandal group in Pune. "This year we decided to bring Sunny Leone and through one of our friends, we managed to rope in the Jism 2 actress and decided to pay  Rs.  5 lakh for her presence,” he said.

Vandana Chavan, former party president and the NCP MP had expressed her discontentment over the announcement as she said, "there is a drought-like situation in the state and it is surprising to know that people are ready to spend  Rs.  5 lakh to invite a celebrity as a chief guest," she said.
