The secret menu of the Titanic which was served to the first-class passengers of the then largest liner, Titanic that had  met with a tragic ending, was sold for a mind- boggling 46,000 pounds.

On the menu were Hors d' oeuvre, roast duckling, fillet of veal and French ice cream apart from many other gourmet dishes which were all served on the first dinner on the ship at the beginning of the voyage.

400 other items belonging to the Titanic were also auctioned in Wiltshire in South West England on the account of its 100th anniversary, according to the BBC news.
The menu was served on the 10th April 1912 which was only 3 days before the ship had wet with its fate. Titanic had sunk after it had collided with a iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean on its first ever voyage killing over 1522 people.

"Menus from the Titanic are among the most sought after memorabilia from the doomed liner," Andrew Aldridge, of Henry Aldridge and Son Auctioneers, said.

The menu itself was the property of Charles Caswell, a first class steward, aged 34, from Southampton.
Caswell sent the menu to his wife Hilda when Titanic stopped at Queenstown, but he later died when the ship sank.
The gold Carapathia medal which was offered to James Bisset was also on the auction and it was sold for 41,000 pounds as it was the only second gold Carapathia medal to be given out.
